Each and every child is different…unique…in millions of ways. It is important to celebrate differences because that is what makes us individuals. However, some developmental differences may isolate a child and prevent him or her from growing into a productive, happy adult. When differences become problems in a child’s life, diagnosis and intervention can increase skills, both socially and physically. Helping a child grow and develop into his or her maximum potential is every parent’s deepest desire. As your child’s doctors, it is our commitment to help you reach that goal.
We start at Square One: Evaluation. If concerns arise regarding a child’s development, families begin to worry. We understand this anxiety and the necessity for those families to find answers to their questions. At Square One, we offer thorough medical, psychological and speech-language evaluations (all or singly) for children – newborn through adolescence. Psychologists, a speech-language pathologist, a child psychiatrist, and a developmental pediatrician are on staff for assessments as well as to assist in longer-term treatment. In addition to providing a detailed evaluation of your child, we also consult with parents, school personnel and physicians to determine how interactions affect behavior. Our task is to identify developmental differences that may separate a child from success.
Based on our findings, we work as a team to complete diagnosis and to supply families with an in-depth assessment of their child. Identifying an abnormality is critical so that interventions can be put into place as early as possible. We then recommend treatment options and provide guidance to find the right resources. When medication is indicated, our doctors will supervise and assess progress as well as consult with your child’s physicians. Setting and meeting realistic goals are the stepping stones to achieving permanent therapeutic change.
